Inflation destroys wealth in myriad ways, not just in international situations. Fixed income types get destroyed. Assets lose relative value, because they just can't be repriced like new goods can. Inflation is death to economic systems and it happens very naturally without the socialist tendencies of those panhandling for votes making it worse. |

| So many liberals criticise capitalism, and while it's flawed like everything else in life, name one system that's better. If libs will read their history books, while socialism sounds like a great idea on paper, history teaches us that only a select few see the benefits (usually those in power).

i think bringing minimum wage up to 9.50 right away is probably unrealistic (though not an inherently bad idea), but many cities have raised their own minimum wage beyond the minimum federal guidelines. for example, in san francisco, minumum wage is 9.36/hr, and that covers even restaurant employees who get tips. | You do understand that from a purely theoretical standpoint, minimum wage requirements can never keep up with inflation (since instituting these wages actually causes inflation to increase.)

I don't understand the fact that while we have billions of dollars worth of problems over here, we are supposed to increase our spending even more money overseas for other people. Screw our people, help the others. Makes no sense to me. |
