Two women thought to suffer from Down's syndrome may have been unwilling suicide bombers in twin blasts that killed up to 73 people at pet markets in Baghdad today.

The first bomber instantly killed 45 people at a packed pet market in Baghdad in the deadliest attack in the Iraqi capital in six months.

The chief Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brigadier General Qassim al-Moussawi, claimed the female bombers apparently had Down's syndrome and the explosives were detonated by remote control, indicating the women may not have been willing attackers, according to his office.

Bolstering that claim, local police said the woman in the first attack sold cream in the morning at the market and was known to locals as "the crazy lady".

Its not pj, it is however an extremist point of view and re-action that will solve little. I am in no mood for a huge political debate about how we should act in the mid-east, but I'll say this and then listen in. We are dealing with an enemy with little to no morals, or sense of human decency, therefore, we should not find ourselves caught up in the actions of our enemy. As soon as we begin to envolve our personal views and emotions, we become vunerable. There is no clear cut answer, but the orginal post/ report is indicative to those people's value of life.

Nukes only allow us to victimize more people and in turn become what we have grown to despise.

I would suggest something more targeted/surgical than a nuclear weapon. It is hard to imagine something short of a widespread biological warfare attack that would call for a nuclear response (besides, of course, a nuclear first-strike by someone else).
