It seems, Israel has bent over backwards the past few years, have things gotten better. They are always going to be hated in that part of the world. They are always going to be a target to some hard line Islamic faction. Why not just come out and say Israel is a independent country and they can do what ever the hell they want. The UN is basically anti US, anti semitic anyway. Why we continue to support the UN, when they don't support us. My rant for the evening, my apologies

It's amazing. These countries attack Israel and get their heads handed to them and lose land in the process, and then they go running to the UN to get their land back.

The whole reason they had these wars is because they were unsatisfied with the 1948 partitioning. Now, we expect them to be satisfied with it now? Heck, Jordan and Egypt had control of Palestinian territories from 1948-1967 and didn't make any effort to create a Palestinian state in that 19 year time frame, but Israel is?

I agree 100%. You add the fact that the UN isn't exactly what you would call pro-Jewish, and it makes for one sad situation. Israel has a right to exist. Period. These terrorists (and that's what they are) won't be happy no matter how much land is given back. They want Israel gone.

This is the key to the entire situation. Terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and their backers Iran and Syria are not interested in the 1967 borders. They want to turn the clock back to pre-1948...prior to Israel's establishment.

Syria wants the Golan Heights back as a part of any peace settlement. I suppose Israel should give that back, too. Whoever commands the Golan Heights has a decided military advantage.

The UN is simply proof positive that a lot of anti-Semitism still exists in this world. And that, given enough time, it's possible to forget anything...even something like the Holocaust.

I've been to Israel, a few days during a deployment to the Persian Gulf. I have but one question regarding Bush's statement. Why?

It doesn't matter what the Israelis do, it will never appease the Arab states - never.

Bush... man I glad I don't have to live with the guilt of having voted for him. This guy on a lot of issues is just as liberal as Bill Clinton.
