No, it was a stunt; he's clearly not going to be on a jury and should have responded accordingly. How do you propose that his SS detail work to protect him in the jury room or jury box? It's unworkable as he and any halfwit in the court system (even in Chicago) would know.

Doesn't have to be in person. Most notices have some simple blocks that people to be excused fill in - or a number to call. They don't want to waste their time on hordes of unqualified or block exempted people any more than those people want to be there - apparently with the exception of idiot ex-presidents.
