Mr. Insecure Bully, D. Trump, gave an America first speech at the U.N. that is sure to do nothing but increase international antipathy toward our bellicose president. He threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea, which of course is honey to his cave-dweller base, but is empty rhetoric that will just prompt the NK leader to shoot off more rockets. Kim Jong-un has already demonstrated that he likes provoking Trump--who, like emotionally fragile man he is, keeps letting himself get provoked.

Trump again called the Iran nuclear deal an "embarrassment" and the "worst deal ever" for America--but of course he has no idea what he's talking about and ending the Iran deal would be totally stupid. But then Trump seems to delight in doing the wrong thing. Trump also vows to make the U.N. "great"--which is more meaningless nonsense since it is an international organization. Trump couldn't name two things that the U.N. does.

Trump should have already learned by now that he can't browbeat the world into adopting his questionable and ill-informed viewpoints. He can't do that in the United States, much less the international community. I thought chief of staff Kelly had purged the White House of most of its chest-thumbing American First crowd, but apparently not. There is way to promote both America's interests and policies that help alleviate global problems--but Trump is too dumb and insecure and absurd to understand that walking around with your chest out and trying to intimidate other leaders and their nations is completely counter-productive. It doesn't work. We went through much the same with Bush, who like many conservatives wanted to play the tough guy--and we got lied to to star a war that has cost America $2 trillion and lots of lives and accomplished very little.

OP, this board is full of R's and Trump humpers. You have to be better than the average poster if you are in the minority here.

It's a speech at the UN...

What did Trump say that was wrong?

I was in a meeting but heard excerpts. I do wish he'd be a bit less bellicose with N Korea simply because I can imagine no scenario in which it helps, but it probably doesn't make much difference.

I'm surprised Trump hasn't come up with a name for Hassan Rouhani yet. It's his go to strategy against adversaries.

NK does not care what he says. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We are in a no win situation with them and they know it.

Kim Jong-un delights in pissing off Trump. He's probably ordered his team to load the launcher as we speak. You'd think Trump and his team would be smarter--but that's too much to ask of this group. China could strong-arm North Korea into ending its missile program or anything else it wanted, but China plays a double-game with us. It doesn't want regime change or reunification with South Korea because that would mean one democratic Korea allied, most probably, with the West--and China does not want that. NK is an ally of China--a weak, weird ally, to be sure--and perhaps more importantly a buffer between it and westernized South Korea. Beijing pays lip service to U.S. requests on North Korea but never really puts the squeeze on Pyongyang.

You're right, 79, but in reality Trump isn't any tougher. It's all talk.

Dunno about you, but all talk no action is even worse than simple inaction.

Its always all talk. No one is going to do anything. N.Korea rattles their tiny little sabers, the West wags their finger at them, rinse..repeat.

The current issue at hand is who allowed them to develop their little baby nukes?

It's almost like some posters here won't be satisfied until Trump launches a Nuke.

Great strategy by Trump, keep up the rhetoric and Un will keep launching. Eventually he has to run out right? How many can he have or the materials to build?

Best strat for North Korea is a legit hearts and minds propaganda program. Once those people realize what the outside world is, they will will revolt.

Think Armchair being let out of his captors basement into a park in spring with WiFi..

How would the outside world go about educating them? They are incredibly isolated and our only means of punishing their government is to impose further sanctions which only isolate them even more (which the government doesn't mind). There is a documentary (about 54 minutes long) on youtube called "Inside North Korea". Here are some things I took from it which best emphasize just how isolated they are as a society and how hard it will be to ever change that:

1) Electric power is sporadic and unreliable, with homes that have electricity often receiving just a few hours per day. Most homes and apartments are heated by open fireplaces burning wood or briquettes. Many lack flush toilets.

2) Families that can afford them often have two television sets but one tv will be pre-set to state channels airing propaganda while the 2nd set will often be used to (illegally) watch South Korean TV shows... and again, there is that problem with the fluctuating voltage in the electrical current.

3) No internet service is available and although there are approximately 1.5 million mobile phone users in North Korea, service is spotty. The most popular use for mobile phones is as a torch to provide light when the power goes out at night.

His speech wasn't that bad. I am not a fan of his mannerisms but he got the point across.

Now for a little more detail...

Leaflet drops..thats what the US does when we bomb th sh@t out of someone..

But NKorea..the hearts and minds campaign needs to start with something as simple as books. Then magazines, photos, video clips, etc. Hell, even radio works..the US is pumping propaganda RF all over that country..smuggle radios in!
