Why is it Muslim terrorists do not represent Islam but all white Americans represent all white slaveholders? If you can prove your family was poor as **** do you get a pass?

If there are any group of people in the US that deserve reparations its the Native Americans. But it seems like they really dont matter.

Anyone else vote to get us the eff out of the UN?

Yep, and tell them to take the party somewhere else. It was a good idea once except the banana republics have taken over, and proved once again why they are third world countries.

Let the EU or Brits issue their refugee EBTs then. They practiced slavery and colonialism well before we became a country, so the practice wasn't something invented here - it was a continuation of what the rest of the world had been doing for a very long time. The Caribbean slave trade was primarily British if I remember my history - slave trade into what is now the US was an extension of that - the crop was cotton and later tobacco rather than sugarcane. And if you really want to go off on the Indian thing, consider Spain and Central and South America.

In the end you can view history with today's eyes, but you can't judge history with today's eyes - simply a different time with different rules. But one question that is always avoided. Considering the state of Africa today and that no one today was ever a slave in the US, can you really say that life here is worse than having been born in Africa?

Isn't welfare and an Obama phone enough already?!

The UN needs to stay the hell out of our business.

When a black person steps forward that was actually a slave, I'll be all for paying him/her reparations. Those who live in today's world have never known the yoke of slavery. Nothing justifies them receiving reparations.

Spain
England
France
Holland
Denmark
Norway
Jamaica
Brazil
Ethiopia....well all of Africa for that matter as slavery and forced labor existed in many kingdoms and societies of Africa for thousands of years
India
All of the Mid-East

And many other countries to add as well.

So, how we going to divide these reparations? Pretty much the entirety of the world was guilty of this practice at some point in time. What you got to say UN?

You forgot Portugal. Most people don't realize, but Spain and Portugal imported far, far, far more slaves into Central and South America and the Caribbean than the US (or Colonies) ever did. And the life expectancy was far shorter.

Animated interactive of the history of the Atlantic slave trade.
