n the US, over the past 10 years, the number of official priest exorcists has more than quadrupled from 12 to 50.

But for two of America’s most active exorcists – Father Gary Thomas, whose training in Rome was chronicled in Matt Baglio's book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist, and Father Vincent Lampert, whose work was depicted on Paranormal Witness – it is an ongoing struggle to keep up with the demand.

The Hispanic population has grown in this country, so this doesn't surprise me. Hispanics tend to be Catholic, and Catholics - the religious group most obsessed with demons - tend to be possessed by demons. In reality, it is mental illness, but that's for another day.

Even so, if the rate has increased that much, then it's not simply explainable by Hispanic immigration alone. I think the rise in the rate of illegal and prescription drug use may account for the rest of the increase.

its been a few years (when it was closer to 12 than 50, which is still a tiny number) but most of the exorcisms were not performed on Catholic families. fyi. We are just the only ones with enough pull with God to actually perform the work : )

Nothing it to it, but reporting the stat helps to create a sense of anxiety in people that hear about it.

So, what is the explanation? OP paraphrased everything except for the part that matters. I skimmed the article and it didn't jump out at me.

From the article:

In lengthy interviews with The Telegraph, the two exorcists discuss how the increase in drug and pornography addiction, failure of the mental healthcare system and a rise in popularity of "pagan activities", such as using a Ouija board to summon the dead, are among the factors contributing to the huge increase in demand for the Rite.

Failure of mental healthcare system explains an increase?...that would only make sense if it used to be good and it used to be horrible.

And a rise in popularity of pagan activities, LOL. I wonder how they concluded there has been a rise?

Pretty sure there hasn't been a rise in drug use, unless they are counting legal/prescription abuse.

I'm sure they used the scientific method.

Exorcism is a little extreme. A Reynold's Aluminum tinfoil hat would have done just as well.

They have obviously missed the big exorcism we most need - actually a couple. There's this big white house in DC and a building with a now crippled dome on top. Those two could use some industrial strength exorcisms and exterminations to clean out the rats and bats (blood and money sucking vampire type of course).

Demons are just as real as angels. Not to be played with. The Bible says that if a man could see the spiritual war going on around him all the time between them...that it would destroy our frail minds.(paraphrasing) those who invite dEmmons and evil into their lives are often overcome. The article is intersting aS well...says that possession is always by many demons and they are called by their names. Exactly like in Scripture when Jesus called the demons (named Legion, for they are many) and cast the demons into a herd of swine...which immediately ran off the cliffs to their deaths in the sea. Crazy stuff.

So I've made a pentagram in baby goat blood on the floor and have had Gwar on full blast for the past forty five minutes. Nothing's happened yet, any advice? What am I doing wrong?
