I find it intriguing that the Pope's economic liberalism is causing the social conservatives to turn up their nose at him. You know, the Bible is pretty leftist when it comes to economics.

Why does GOP greed trump their supposed allegiance to God?

I've always loved the "Bible is economically liberal" take. Would you mind posting a few examples that have brought you to this conclusion?

The man hasn't watched tv in thirty years nor does he go on the Internet , reads an Italian newspaper to formulate his political views, swing and a miss.

TV and internet... If you don't know what to look for and where to look are the worst things you could use to form an opinion. Not that an Italian newsletter is any better.. But still.

Any more intriguing than how lefties cherry pick his views on capitalism but ignore his sanctity of life views?

Why does allegiance to economic ideology for lefties trump their views on human rights?

Point being, he is out of touch and cannot objectively form an opinion.

The Bible teaches we are to help those that need help. It also teaches that a man should work. That is not left wing economics. Helping someone get back on their feet is different than giving someone a lifelong handout.

Probably going to go with the whole Jesus was a peace loving non materialistic hippie that despised wealth..the whole "meek shall inherit the earth" thing.

Leftists..love their insanity. They hate religion but jump on the Pope hype train as soon as it pulls into their fantasy station. Similar to hopping aboard the Muslims are Good train recently..disregarding that islam literally goes against everything they believe in.

I think this sums it up:

The funny part is leftists complain about people who have more money and material things and they want to take that money from them so they can buy more material things with more money..

Again, absolutely going against everything Democrats believe in.

Pope is God?

The Pope is nothing more than another dirty politician who lives like a king off the backs of his followers hard work.

The news networks, Obama and millions of people are certainly treating the Pope as God this morning.

That's vulgar socialism.

Socialism as an actual economic and philosophical system requires work. Now, it may not be the best for innovation, but it does require work. At no point in his writings did Marx say, "We must take the wealth of the rich and redistribute it to beggars who contribute nothing to society."

The current union of capitalism and socialist principles (not necessarily socialism per se) is some sort of bizarre postmodern amalgamation. I'm not quite sure what in the hell it is, but it certainly isn't socialism.

Ahhhhhh therein is the problem. The American version of that discourages work in any form. Sit home, watch your big screen, and cash your checks that those evil rich people are forced to cover.

How about actually answering the question instead of the normal mushmouth response from you that totally dodges the question.

But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?

1 John 3:17

When Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Luke 18:22

"Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

Isaiah 58:7

And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday.

Isaiah 58:10

One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed.

Proverbs 19:17

but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.

Deuteronomy 15:8

'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;

Mathew 25:35

"But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind

Luke 14:13

I'm just saying, the far right claims religious superiority over everyone else .. except when religious leaders disagree with them.
