Rubio on SS

Ben Carson has said something very similar. I would have opted out years ago had I been allowed to do so, but the Ponzi Scheme that is Social Security won't allow for that.

I want out also. Need to get out quick while people with jobs are still paying in. Between the baby boomers and the millions that we are turning out with teaching, history, and art degrees, we are headed for a bad time for retirees.

Bush said the same thing when he ran, and I think he talked about it when was president. It's not going to change without a literal battle.

Even if the GOP were correct on economic questions(they aren't), it wouldn't be worth having to fight the social battles of the 60s and 70s again.

I would be willing to just let them keep what they have already taken from me and just get out now. I am more than capable of funding my own retirement and not interested in funding anyone else's.

Bush said the same thing when he ran, and I think he talked about it when was president. It's not going to change without a literal battle.

"...President Bush embarked on the first of what proved to be a long series of tours crammed with events at which he pitched his plan to the people. It soon became apparent that it would be a tough sell. Within weeks, observers noticed that the more the President talked about Social Security, the more support for his plan declined. According to the Gallup organization, public disapproval of President Bush's handling of Social Security rose by 16 points from 48 to 64 percent--between his State of the Union address and June.

By early summer the initiative was on life support, with congressional Democrats uniformly opposed and Republicans in disarray. After Hurricane Katrina inundated what remained of the President's support, congressional leaders quietly pulled the plug. By October, even the President had to acknowledge that his effort had failed....."

I think social security is a good thing. My grandmother has lived off it for 15 years. She never worked, stay at home mom/housewife, old school nuclear family type thing. Without it her kids would be taking care of her.

But hey if we make minimum wage $15 an hour it will solve all problems right?!?

No offense to you or your grandmother, but how does that make SS "a good thing". I guess it depends on your perspective, but I have never been able to look at something like funding someone else's retirement as a "good thing". JMO

It's sad that our society values educators on the same level as art history majors.

I personally think some forms of social safety nets are good for society.

And lets be real your pay check funds a lot worse things than social security.

Let's see our paychecks fund bank bailouts, large corporation bail outs, military equipment and aid to muslim countries that hate us, training muslim terrorists I mean "thoroughly vetted" anti Assad/ISIS fighters, farming subsidiaries, failed "green" projects, etc.

I'd rather my taxes stay here in America and help Americans than go to some jagoff muslim turd world country.

This is spot on. It doesn't make someone a socialist or a commie to see this.

Oh I agree to all with exception to military equipment.......but even saying that, the acquisition of our military equipment needs a lot of overhaul.

Anyone who is concerned or interested in the truth about SS should read the article posted on the DissidentVoice.org. The title is "Reagan and The Great Social Security Heist". Remove the partisan blinders , the article isn't written from a partisan POV(IMO) . Politicians of both parties are to blame for the current condition of SS.

Tells me all I need to know about the article writer.

You realize he's proposing that people who put in the most get back the least, relative to their contribution, and that those who put in least get back the most.

A distinctly progressive view of retirement wealth management.

There is no way that would ever fail.....................
