Maybe one of you folks can post a link. I saw on the news about a proposed plan to build a road/bridge that would connect our countries. Good idea, or bad?

Probably a bad idea since it will be the US taxpayers that get asked to pay for it.

If the Bridge to Nowhere was going to cost $400 million, this would cost like $4 trillion.

Otherwise, it's a neat idea.

Palin would not only be able to see Russia from her front porch but drive there too. She and shirtless Putin could go hunting together. On the negative side, Russia has previous ties to Alaska. If it's OK for Putin to take back old lands with cultural ties, Ras would not mind Putin driving across with little green men saying he was being proactive because of Psaki, Nuland, and whoever else in the State Department.

It's a helluva lot more productive than our tax dollars funding terrorist, overthrowing democratically elected politicians and waging war on the whole planet..

If an American had proposed it, you would be screeching that most of the road would end up dividing your precious Russian steppes and provide the "USSA" with a means to invade Irkutsk.

That's the fun part about it. Russia would have to have a very strong border control post to prevent the mass migration of her population. The five people going into Russia vs. the few thousand leaving Russia.

but you could only drive on like 1/4th of it year round, the rest would get frozen or snowed in.

I would imagine that the Bering Strait crossing would be treacherous regardless of the time of year.
