This is something that has to have more of a spot light shined on it. From the Ponzi scheme of social security and Medicare programs to new agency after new agency. How does it make any common sense to keep increasing expenses? We have to people start waking the hell up and taking back control of our government. Of the people, by the people, for the people. The answer is not increasing taxes, that's so implausible is funny that people believe that is the answer. We can't even keep with the interest on our national debt, let alone pay the principal. So what happens when China quits loaning and expects repayment? Are you ok with kids and grand kids working as slaves to repay the national debt that they had no part in? To believe the debt is just going to "poof disappear" is ignorant. We need fundamental change and we have to start getting our numbers in the green or it's going to be too late, I'm sure most of you know how compounding interest works. So instead of worrying about such societal things as abortion, gay marriage, discrimination, sexism, etc, pull your head out of your ass and demand the people that work for us to take responsibility and fix this mess before it's too late. I would not employ somebody who wrote bad check after bad check, ran out of money, continued taking out loans so they can live they're life "rich", continuously getting credit cards maxing them out with no intention to repay. So why the hell do we let the people in Washington act so wrecklessly with our nations money? Is there some lottery I don't know about they plan on winning to pay it off? Where's the damn common sense? So get off the stupid crap that everybody seems to be worried about today and begin correcting this problem. Sitting idlely by is just as criminal as what they are doing, they work for is us, and we the people let them get away with it. Shame on you

I'm ready to Libertarian the Republican party. That's the only way to effect a change.

I agree, libertarians need use the Republican Party as a channel instead of attempting to be a third party. That's the only way it will gain enough traction

Just to make sure we are all on the same page here:

We don't owe China a dime.

Weird, because a few years ago we owed them a trillion. Good to know we paid that off. Everyone The U.S. Government Owes Money To, In One Graph : Planet Money : NPR

They've owed us a trillion for awhile. But our debt is to their people through the purchase of bonds. Not their government.

And the biggest issue is with US citizens and their own inability to save money. Look at the savings rates of countries like China or Japan. And then compare them to ours. It's sad. The average American citixen saves a negative amount of money each year. That's why we owe debt to the Japanese and Chinese people. Because they invest and buy our bonds.

Spin it however you want, we have to repay our debt regardless who it's to. We have to start holding the people who spend our money wrecklessly responsible. Why anybody would want to give them more of mine and your money is outrageously ignorant. We need to demand them get their books straight with the income we already pay them.

SS (no nazi) is a good idea. How to pay for it seems to be the bastard.

Again..a flat tax would probably quell much trepidation over the paying of various social programs.

Where's the damn common sense?

The Death Of Common Sense
12-13-10

Obituary

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair; and
- Maybe it was my fault..

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers:
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim
Not many attended his funeral because
so few realized he was gone..
If you still remember him, pass this on.
If not, join the majority and do nothing.
