Atlantic City fail

Thousands of Jobs at Stake as Atlantic City Casinos Close - NBC News While I am GOP - I cant stand Chris Christie and the fact the buffoon isnt doing anything about this major job loss in his state.

AC suffers from the fact that over the last 30 years, there has simply been more competition to fight over gamblers' dollars. I don't think there are too many places on the east coast where a casino isn't within a 3-4 hour drive of where anyone lives.

What would expect Christie to do?

See above post for Christie --- I actually in reality, blame the casino owners for being greedy and expecting profits like they had 20 years ago

Actually Christie didnt help the cause when NJ passed online gambling last year. BTW driving through Philly isnt hell too ?

The online gambling bill was a last gasp/Hail Mary for the NJ casino industry. If I'm not mistaken, didn't they also allow online bookmaking?

I guess I'm still wondering what more Christie could do besides shut down other casinos on the east coast.

realize that profits will never be the same - although they can make decent money

They've got too much overhead. Too many big buildings with empty rooms and empty floorspace. If they can't make enough to keep the lights on and pay a minimal staff, they have to shut down. Those casinos are not meant to be run Six Sigma Lean.

Have they gotten real card dealers over there yet? Do they sell firewater yet instead of cokes?

Shoot. They have beer, wine, and bourbon. Free cokes. Real poker, black jack and 21.

Over 30 million in prizes so far this year.
( which isn't bad in an area of 120-150k population)

We have two here. Cherokee and Choctaw. Choctaw gives you free beer. :)

I go about once a year. Give them 50-100 bucks. Have some fun.

Yeah live dealers are much better than the machines - I think they do have a way to rig the machines and esp. anything online -- free beer ? lol the pols shut that down long ago - I guess only Indians can do that.

Only one of the casinos do that here. (Choctaw). The Cherokee are a little tighter but give rooms away pretty easily. They are both nice. The Choctaw is about to spend 20 million on a new addition.
