Hillary Clinton criticizes Obama's foreign policy 'failure'; strongly defends Israel

This squashes any doubt of her running in 2016, imo. She is breaking away from the Obama Administration.

“The failure to help build up a credible fighting force of the people who were the originators of the protests against Assad*— there were Islamists, there were secularists, there was everything in the middle*— that failure left a big vacuum, which the jihadists have now filled,” Clinton said.

The former first lady and U.S. senator said she fears the jihadist groups currently gaining strength in the Middle East will expand their sights to Europe and the U.S.

“One of the reasons why I worry about what’s happening in the Middle East right now is because of the breakout capacity of jihadist groups that can affect Europe, can affect the United States,” she continued. “Jihadist groups are governing territory. They will never stay there, though. They are driven to expand. Their raison d’etre is to be against the West, against the Crusaders, against the fill-in-the-blank — and we all fit into one of these categories. How do we try to contain that? I’m thinking a lot about containment, deterrence and defeat.”

U.S. President Barack Obama, seen through his teleprompter, delivers remarks announcing a comprehens*…
Commenting on another Middle East conflict*— the war in Gaza between Hamas and Israel*— Clinton strongly defended Israel.

She's partly right. But the "crusade" against the West is a reaction to almost a century of our efforts to turn them into us, not so much that it is inherent in their interests to come to New Jersey.

Well this is certainly an interesting perspective and an even more interesting time to speak up. Especially considering that Hillary was Secretary of State for over five years.

Against the West that's only if we're in front of them. If we aren't there messing with their political and social infrastructure every day, there's no value to their attacking us.

Going to be hard for her to distance herself from the dumpster fire she assisted in starting.

She hitched her wagon to Obama's star and now wants to hop off the ride. It's going to get good. Maybe even a bit comical.

I think you misunderstand the delusions of grandeur that the jihadists have. They want to convert the world or die trying.

What exactly has stirred these thoughts of isolationism/non-interventionism in you as of late my litigator lizard friend? It's somewhat of a recent development in your posting habits.

Well, I guess that explains the first World Trade Center bombing, 9/11 and Fort Hood

Seems to me that if Iraq and Syria can't keep rebels from fashioning a whole new country out of their territory then it is extremely unlikely we can.

Their rhetoric succeeds in attracting new members because we give the people there reason to hate us and to join them.

More nope. Our society and its culture are contradictory to their society and beliefs. Our culture permeates the world outside of Islam.

You eat bacon?

You protect homosexuals?

You consume liquor?

You a Christian, Jew, Buddhist, atheist?

You believe in free speech and the ability to criticize your leaders?

Death to you, Infidel!

They are in it for the long haul. It's about time we realized this and the fact that we are too, whether we want to be or not.

Wake up. . .

People once again using a particular crisis to insinuate that the battle is religious, rather than political. How many times has the world seen that mistake?

Countless. Guess there's no reason dumb people shouldn't be duped into it again.
