I know it seems as if I might be gloating a bit, but after all the abuse I've taken in the politic forum, I deserve it. |

The best thing to come out of the election for me was a change of mayor in Lex, and a NO vote on the city's desire to condemn and buy the local water co.

Those are the choices people make when they vote a certain way. Or at least, speaking for myself only, I try to vote for what effects me and my family. Priorites change in life and so has my vote over the years.
I do think the Dem's will make some positive changes. Each party does when they win. Some areas though will not improve. Just the way it is.
Oh yea, congads. |

| | Transform...and roll out! | Time will tell...depending on what happens in the next 2 years, this could actually be good for the right wingers.

| | Senior Member | I doubt much will change. The democrats had continually frustrated republican initiatives in congress with their minority, and I'm sure republicans will return the favor here. |

| | doo doo doo | Congrats - people were clearly dissatisfied with how the government is handling stuff. However you will still take abuse in this thread
A few observations:
1. It appears that many of the turnover seats were won by rather conservative democrats. Dissatisfaction rather than ideology appears to be the big driver of change.
2. The party preaching morality lost on issues of corruption. The party claiming to be less corrupt now has to keep their nose clean or this could reverse (good luck with that). They gain about 35 more corruption time bombs.
3. It will be fun to be on the offensive now - actually awaiting all the stellar leadership from the likes of Pelosi, Conyers, Rangel, Hastings, and potentially, Reid, Schumer, etc. Yesterday, Dean, Pelosi and Reid talked about "changing the tone" in Washington and reaching out for bipartisan action. Um...I won't hold my breath on that one.
4. Dems finally have to have a plan rather than complaining - should be fun.
