Just read Heathrow is pretty much shut down. Security high and flights delayed and most canceled.

That would be funny except for the fact that my parents are literally in the air right now and due to land at Heathrow in about an hour. It's been a long night watching for updates.

From what I understand, the flights at risk were from the UK to US and more specifically, flights to NYC, DC and California.

Yeah, that's what I just told my hysterical sister who I think was getting ready to go get in a rowboat to go pick my parents up. More than anything I think it's going to just be an inconvenience for them once they get on the ground and go through customs.

By the way . . . You're right about this color code system. It's just goofy and nobody knows what the heck it means. I just heard we are at threat level orange for domestic flights but red for international. High level here means "Highest Alert". In the UK they are at "Critical".

Not to make light of the situation, but I can't help but think of Ron White's alert system.

Just two levels:

Get a helmet!

Put the damn helmet on!

OWB, I find your response to an event such as this somewhat repulsive. It seems to be a common theme among the extreme left wing in this country, that such an attack is really America's fault, not the fault of the people who are actually committing the actions. I don't understand the hatred of America the extreme left has, but I am sure the terrorists of the world are surely thankful.

Just what I thought, come on do better than that. Don't you have a cartoon or something to throw on the post, your usual method of debate.

Imagine that...surveillance actually works!
Quote:
"During the investigation an unprecedented level of surveillance has been undertaken and that surveillance has had as its objective to gather intelligence and evidence in support of the investigation," he said.

"We have been looking at meetings, movements, travel, spending and the aspirations of a large group of people. This has involved close co-operation not only between agencies and police forces in the UK but also internationally.

"As is so often the case with these investigations, the alleged plot has global dimensions.

"The investigation reached a critical point last night when the decision was taken to take urgent action in order to disrupt what we believed was being planned."
