| Many people claim that more people have been killed as a result of religion and religious beliefs than any other cause. I am sure we have all heard that at one point or another throughout our life, and if you hadn't, well you have now.
Religion plays a vital role in politics because foreign policy and morality play a vital role in politics. Religious zealots are never going to yield to politics, yet, politics will often yield to religious (and areligious) zealots. This is truly frightening due to the fact that many religious zealots hold onto beliefs that they are inherently better (because they are only ones deserving of God's grace in heaven,) which throughout history has lent itself to the oppression and annhilation of certain peoples.
