Father/husband, mother/wife are politically incorrect terms

Britain Abolishes Itself | The American Conservative

Quote:
As part of the drive towards institutionalizing same-sex marriage—which is being spearheaded not by radical gays but by our posh, foppish Conservative prime minister, David Cameron—words such as “husband” and “wife” and “father” and “mother” are being airbrushed from much official government documentation. So welfare and immigration forms will shortly be scrubbed clean of any mention of the w-word or the h-word, in favor of more “neutral” terms such as “spouse” or “partner” because, as the Daily Telegraph reports, the government believes that once same-sex marriage is legalized “it would be confusing to refer to husbands and wives.”

Fathers are already disappearing. At the end of May, the National Health Service, the largest employer in Britain—and the fifth largest in the world—took the decision to excise the six-letter f-word from a pamphlet on rearing children that it has been giving to mothers- and fathers-to-be for the past 14 years. The pamphlet will no longer refer to fathers following a complaint from one person—yes, that is all it takes to airbrush people from history in modern Britain—who was concerned that such terminology is “not inclusive of people in same-sex relationships.” From now on the pamphlet will refer to mothers and “partners.” Dads are so 20th century.
Dads are obsolete in Great Britain.

I thought the Olympic Opening Ceremonies were particularly insightful when they actually devoted a song and dance number to celebrate their National Health Service.

If a nation of 70 million or so can have a NHS that is the 5th largest employer in the world, imagine how large an US bureaucracy could be.

I love the commercial about the neo-natal incubators we donated to their National Health Service.

isn't this taking away the "rights" of fathers to be recognized by the government? NHS is a hate organization - who can I protest.

I honestly thought that if the scotus overturned the aca then a single payer system would truly have been next on the docket next time the dems got a super majority. Universal coverage has been on that agenda for decades, and if mandatory participation in the private market was out of the question then there's only one way to go from there.

However I don't think a full nhs style system would ever be politically possible no matter how many democrats get elected

I'm in favor... by taking the masculine and feminine terms away in place of a neutral term, just think how much easier it will be to learn languages like Spanish. This has much more value than a centuries old, endearing term like father or dad.

Yeah, NHS is relatively rare as a model. AMA would pitch a hissy (as would nearly everyone else).

Imagine your Docs office was the equivalent of the DMV - mass riots ensue.

What rights? You suggesting the LGBT community has more than the heterosexual?
