| I would say this is a terrible gaffe for his candidacy as it shows him to be more left-leaning, non-capitalist than maybe most independents thought. If I had to guess though, he chose poor wording in trying to say that a lot of industries and businesses have been helped by government investment. That's a true statement. But they don't owe the government anything. |

I was going to argue that he's trying to claim that most businesses/industries have been helped by government either through government contracts or research. That's true. And that the poor wording is "Somebody else made that happen." But now that I've read it again, it's hard to take that as poor wording.
The gaffe is using this as reasoning for more taxes or saying they owe government. That's ludicrous. I believe gov't has a role in high reward research that most private enterprises deem too risky or not cost efficient. But you can't use that to back up big government. If he pushes this message in his campaign, put a fork in him. Most independents are still capitalists. | |

Everything is about him lecturing us from his pedestal. I can't for the life of me understand why this guy turns people on unless they enjoy being treated like they r 4 years old. | |
