Polls from MS and AL

About 45% of conservatives in MS and AL believe that Obama is a Muslim

About 14% believe he's Christian

About 25% of these polled people believe that interracial marriage should be illegal...

At least the majority (about 60%) said interracial marriage should be legal, but it does go to show you how some people are still stuck in the 50s.

Seriously, some people in our country...the country that's supposed to be free...believe that interracial marriage should be illegal? It just baffles me.

I know people on here are gonna say, "Well, they're in the minority..." but 25%...that's not a small minority. If it was 6%, well, I wouldn't be surprised. But 25%???

Poll: Obama is a Muslim to many GOP voters in Alabama, Mississippi - latimes.com

Obama is a politician, therefore he is a Satanist.

Makes you wonder what the other 15% think about interracial marriage, doesn't it?

We stopped being free years ago. Some people sure enjoy the fiction though.

It shouldn't surprise you too much. In some parts of Mississippi they still think that fire is a new-fangled fad that will die out any day now.

That's right. Only racists and bigots vote against Obama. It's not like the article wouldn't have rolled the Volunteer state into the mix if the primary coincided. Way to read between the lines fellows.

What was said that could possibly provoke this?

I didn't vote for Obama and never would. How is that possibly relevant to the sheer ignorance of some rednecks?

That's the whole point of the stats and the linked article. That's all I mean. Don't be fooled. The LA Times would be happy to crucify any Southern (or other for that matter) state that wasn't "all in" for Obama. Alabama and Mississippi's GOP primaries are tomorrow, and that is what predicated the article.

My only real point is to be careful throwing stones. If it had worked out that Tennessee's GOP primary had been tomorrow, the Volunteer state would have most likely been lumped in with the knuckle-draggers as well. I grew up in Tennessee, will return, and will be buried there someday. I know there are enough idiots to keep the statistics close enough to be eye opening if they included the state.

When Tennessee is proclaimed the enlightened thinking state amongst three alternatives, I automatically think Alabama and Mississippi have to be the other two choices.

Racial and religious bigotry confirmed.

I lived in Florida. North Florida resembles something from an episode of Cops. The panhandle is called L.A. (Lower Alabama) Gainesville is also a real jewel.

Plus, it produces such intellectual giants such as LG.

Went to a private school there for a little while. Orange Park Mall is where I saw Return of the Jedi in 2nd grade.

JSO is probably the most corrupt gang of cops in the land. They make the LAPD of the 90's look like boy scouts.

Its actually grown tremendously. I live in Ponte Vedra for about 4 years in the late 90's early 00's. That part is ok, but the further west and inland you go....the more trailers you see.

I remember... Jax Beach is crap. And to be such a big city, there is nothing to do there. Nothing in the way of tourism anyway.
