Either Breitbart or Weiner is in trouble....

why would Breitbart be in trouble?

He has, shall we say, a past that suggests that he might be aware of who hacked the account and was poised to jump on it when the pic was posted. He has taken things way out of context, and even intentionally edited videotape, in his quest to impugn people he doesn't like. He's been thoroughly discredited before -- wouldn't surprise me if he has some linkage to the hacker.

On the other hand, that assumes there is a hacker. For all we know Weiner was drunk and posted it.

Just find it odd that the pic was up for a very short time but Breitbart was fortuitously right there to snag it.

you post this garbage and you think frank getting his lover a job is no big deal? jesus christ.

and you're a lawyer?

I've accounted for the possibility that Weiner put the photo on himself. If so, he's in a heap of trouble, especially since he has now publicly claimed the account was hacked.

But Fox reports the pic was up for just a matter of a few minutes. Don't you find it odd that Breitbart would be there to catch it at exactly the right time?

I don't know who is telling the truth. But if there was a hacker and he can be traced to Breitbart ....

It wouldn't be a big deal except for both Weiner and Breitbart saying what they've said in the aftermath.

seems to me like the most obvious explanation is that weiner meant to privately send it to the lady thru twitter's private messages and stupidly put it on his public twitter.

if you are following someone on twitter it's not surprising at all that you'd see it the second it got posted. that's the way it works. particurally a guy who follows people like this for a living.

why would Breitbart be calling for forensic analysis to find the source if he in fact was somehow responsible?

also, he didn't have to follow the Twitter account closely at all. this thing blew up immediately on Twitter.

interesting how you leap to conclusions

have you ever used Twitter LG? I see hacked facebook accounts quite often so forgive me for not buying the conspiracy angle

how do you know it was Breitbart himself that was monitoring the tweets?

My initial reaction is that it was hacked. The assumption that Breitbart was involved has virtually zero support unless you are a hyper-partisan hater that can read minds...oh wait.

i've seen twitter accounts get hacked, but never seen it get hacked to post a semi nude photo. usually it's links to dietary suppliments and viagra. also not sure why someone would bother to hack a minor guy like weiner and then post that photo. i bet you $50 weiner sent it to that lady himself. edit: if you are trying to damage weiner why not post something racist or something, why a half nude photo? his "lets just move on" stance also speaks of him being the culprit. otherwise why not want them to go full out and prove he isn't the person who tweeted it?

It is absolutely a possibility that Weiner put the pic on himself. If so, as I say, I think he is in major trouble because he has claimed it was a hacker that did it. At a minimum he'll lose all credibility and probably end up with some 'splainin' to do to the new wife.

Same reason Weiner would say that his account was hacked -- panic.

That's a good point. I don't know if it was him monitoring. But if it was someone working for him who either did it or, I would think more likely, got word it was going to happen, then I'd still lay blame for that at the feet of Breitbart, at least in terms of further erosion of what minimal credibility he has left.

I mean, imagine that a conservative blogger employs some numskull to help him blog. That guy is buds with the person who has been harassing this young lady for the last month as she has followed Weiner on Twitter and is told, hey, make sure to be watching his account at 10:05 a.m. (or whenever it was).

Its just as plausible as that Weiner did it himself and is making up the hacker thing to cover.

My initial reaction is that it was hacked. The assumption that Breitbart was involved has virtually zero support unless you are a hyper-partisan hater that can read minds...oh wait.

It might have been hacked. Not saying Breitbart was the one who hacked it. But I wonder if they knew it was coming (and by "they" I mean him or some underling).

He might have sent it. As I say, he's in major doo-doo if he did, at least imo.

hard for me to imagine what the upside of breitbart hacking it or paying someone to do so. most hackers are bored kids rather than someone with an agenda.

I think less likely he or his are actually behind it. More likely that, if it was hacked, they were tipped off.

This has been the problem for Breitbart before. He didn't make up what was said, for example, by that Department of Agriculture lady. But, he knowingly chopped it up to make it appear she said something she didn't.

one of the guests on "Redeye" said that Weiner should resign, then CNN can hire him and pair him up with Elliot Spitzer.

Weiner-Spitzer, tonight at 9...

now he is saying it was a prank (obviously to stop the police from getting involved). he clearly did it himself.

love this part:

"I'm not going to permit myself to be distracted further," Weiner said. "The objective of the person doing the mischief is to distract me and I'm not going to let that happen."

ya think he might want this thing cleared up if he didn't do it?

"If someone throws a pie from the back of the room, or yells an insult..." The press conference was a broken record of his weak analogy. Thankfully, pie throwing and insult hurling don't raise national security implications like hacking (now pranking?) a sitting Congressman's social media account.
