A few minutes ago on May 5, 2011, Arab TV announced that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameini requested Iran's President Ahmadinejad to step down from his post. This has not been confirmed nor verified by Western media as yet, however, it has been reported that several of his close aides are already under arrest.

This is the result of an unprecedented walk-out of 11 days by Ahamadinejad, as protest for Khameini having reinstated his intelligence chief, after Ahmadinejad had dismissed him.

Not a very good source but the Guardian (also not the best source) reported this yesterday and other rumors have been published dating back to Apr 27.

Some Iranian publications have also been speculating about whether Ahmadi-Nejad might resign.

Pajamas Media Rift in Iranian Leadership Spreads to the Streets of Tehran

In the increasing tension between Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, supporters of each faction, who have been drawing lines in the sand for the past few days claiming that there will be blood, took their disputes to the streets of Tehran.

According to reports from Iran, serious clashes between the rank and file supporters of Khamenei and the supporters of Ahmadinejad erupted on Saturday. Many were severely injured with clubs and machetes. The clashes are said to have been so fierce that the security guards did not intervene and stood aside, watching the brawl.

The routes leading into the Imam Hossein Square and Enghelab Avenue were blocked by the special forces. Civilians were not permitted to enter or exit those city blocks with their cars. The entire area was filled with anti-riot police, plain clothes agents and members of the Basij militia, and although one could not tell the difference between the supporters of Khamenei and the supporters of Ahmadinejad, they themselves could tell each other apart!

Do you think the people of Iran are better governed now than by the Shah regime?

Who do you think will come out the winner in the present power struggle to control the intelligence aparatus? (If you can call any terrorist generating organization intelligent.)

Maybe your proctologist is shoving red herrings up your rectum because you keep pulling them out and throwing them into the discussion.

We are supposed to be the bad guys because we don't trade with Iran? What are they goiing to buy other than F-14 parts?

They have nothing much to export except oil and have no problem selling it to China.

What about civil liberties under the Shah vs civil liberties under the present regime? Same? Different? Better? Worse?

Not to mention that Iran has for years been supplying IEDs (land mines) for use against US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For anyone to support the Iranian regime just because they support Jimmy Carter or his party is pretty sick imo.

This latest from the Iranian intelligence agency:

Iranian Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi claims that Osama Bin Laden died from an illness before the US raid on his compound in Abbottabad. Iran has documents to prove it, he said.

"We have credible information that Bin Laden died some time ago of a disease," Moslehi said on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Sunday, as quoted by ISNA news agency.

Now, wonder who authorized that bit of intel speak?
