| Pay to Vote So, my old man's friend came up with an idea that would help ensure that we get a higher % of more informed votes from citizens that really do care.
You send every registered voter $20 before election day. When it comes time to vote, charge $20 a head.
Thoughts?
Note: the constitution is properly amended to provide for this scenario

Thoughts? | Let's just go all out and bring back the poll tax. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

Thoughts? | Oh hell yeah!
But $20 is way too low.
I'd say start at a grand for the right to vote and then 100 for every actual poll you vote in. |

You don't think if a vote came with an opportunity cost of $20 that it would likely be more informed?
You can properly amend the constitution in this hypothetical. |

Everybody gets $20, and everyone pays $20. How is this related to discriminatory literacy tests? |

People that don't value their vote would take the money and run. They would be CHOOSING to do so. Honestly, you want to count the votes of people who don't really value their own vote in the first place?

| But remember, it's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes. |
