Thumbs up Titans Seek Evidence of Tampering in Albert Haynesworth Deal

Titans seek tampering evidence against Redskins | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean

Gonna be hard to prove, but it's quite clear that it went on. I was surprised we didn't hear more fuss about this after his signing. Looks like the Titans are trying to keep it behind closed doors. As hard as it is to keep good players these days the last thing you need is another team negotiating with your players before free agency.

How is it quite clear that the 'Skins tampered? If blogger speculation and a meeting between his agent and Washington at the Combine are all they got, I don't see them winning that case.

If you think they hammered out the largest deal for a defensive player in the history of the game in 4 hours, that's your prerogative, I guess. I call BS.

It does to me. Obviously it wouldn't to a Redskins fan. I said it was "quite clear" not blatantly clear.

Washington definitely came to the table knowing what they could or would offer, as does every NFL team come free agency. If you factor in that he was only considering about 5 teams to start with, it's not that surprising that he'd quickly accept an offer to be the highest paid defensive player. Washington has the best tradition of that group and Snyder is an owner willing to put up the bucks.

Carolina may have been able to match, but I didn't see him signing to a place where there top defensive lineman wants out bad. It was very clear as of about 3 weeks ago he wasn't returning to the Titans.

what does being a fan of either team have to do with making clear? That just makes it sound like sour grapes.

The Redskins tampered, everyone knows it but it can't be proven and the Titans and every other teams do the same thing. The Redskins will have problems as long as they keep relying on free agency to fix all their problems. Most teams are taking notice of how New England managed their team and how they stay at the top for so long. The Titans are one of the teams that have adpoted this strategy of not overpaying for players and finding guys like Nate Washington at lower prices to fill gaps while letting the draft make your team. Teams like the Redskins and Raiders think they can buy a Super Bowl every year when FA rolls around so let Big Al look around and watch as his teammates start getting cut once the skins get in salary cap hell.

I bet the odds are very good that the Titans have a better record than the Redskins for the amount of time Haynesworth is in Washington.

Just about every team out there speaks to players agents when they are not allowed to. It has been happening for years and will continue to do so. For those that think the Redskins did not approach Haynesworth's agent before the allowed time you are kidding yourselves, the Redskins weren't the only ones to do so. In the grand scheme of things this isn't really a big deal, happens all the time.

Redskins won't sniff the playoffs this year regardless of how they acquired Haynesworth.

so they barely missed the playoffs, have signifiantly improved their O-line and D-line which were the two biggest weaknesses from last year and the draft is still yet to come, but you already know the Redskins won't sniff the playoffs? Genius.

they'll still take 3-4 games off like they do every year, and miss out, again.

just like Haynesworth does.

they might miss the playoffs, but with the fact that the Cowboys haven't improved (no matter how you spin the TO issue) and the Eagles let Brian Dawkins go, they will definitely be in contention as much, if not more, than they were this year. To say they won't even sniff the playoffs is absurd.

I think they make it in. Probably won't win the East, but should get a WC. And I'm usually a pessimist and I don't trust our QB or the coach.
