What has become of the splitback offense?

It seems you see nothing but 1 deep setback or i-formation.

I haven't given it much thought, but I usually lump the split back in with the wishbone. Faster linebackers, tailback durability and the "Wildhog" type offenses have all played a part.

West Coast teams still use the split back, Philly, washington, Tampa Bay, & a couple others. It is definitely not as common as it was.
