| i think it can be a good thing, especially if you've had some injuries late in the season or had to fight it out for the 1 or 2 seed. but when you wrap up home feild and a bye as early as some of these teams did, i think there is a definite concern by sitting for a week.
and i'm completely against bringing players back for the playoffs that have been out for the majority of the season.....i'll never forget 4 years ago, the Steelers brought back Bettis for a play off game after he finally got healthy, and moreover, after Amos Zerowe had been the horse that got them to the playoffs, he was virtually ineffective, the rod the bus all the way to an early exit of the playoffs that year.
i'll always think it's an advantage to have the week off, but you really can't view it as that in the playoffs. chances are the team you play in the divisonal round has been in "playoff" mode for the past 3-4 weeks. you on the other hand have been coasting for the same time span. we've had more SB participants from the w/c rounds of late than we ever have.
there's a reason for that.
