I mean I don't think he'll make it more than 10-12 years in the NFL before he starts to feel the effects from his running, but right now he's done quite a bit more with quite a bit less than what anyone in the NFL did last year.

Matt Leinart played decent last year. Cutler has tons of potential. Both those guys are in way better positions to succeed. It wouldn't surprise me at all for both of them to be more successful than Vince. I think you guys are setting Vince on a very, very high pedestal. That will make it a lot more painful when he falls off it next season.

Manning, Brady, Palmer. There is zero chance of Vince Young eclipsing any of these 3 guys in the next 3 to 5 years.

Damn. Someone else on this board actually gets it.

See how he does this year with defensive coordinators gameplanning for him and without Travis Henry to bail his a$$ out.

Because we all know that Henry was a big factor in all those comebacks he had last year.

Yeah, I like Vince Young. I liked him in college, and I still think he's pretty entertaining to watch. He was a phenomenal college player; arguably in the top 3 for this decade. BUT, I still have a hard time saying he's going to be smashing success in the pros. I'm not sure if he's even passed for 200 yards in a game yet. This treatment of him is reminding me a lot of Arian Foster after the '05 season. He was regarded as the guy that would take UT to the promised land in '06. When he couldn't do it everyone was ready to write him off. It's ridiculous really. Still, I'd be surprised if the same thing doesn't happen to Vince Young.

Yeah, he was practically invisible in that win against the Colts last season.

Well, if you recall, I was the primary person pointing out that Arian Foster was overhyped going into the 2006 season. I'm still not writing him off. He just doesn't walk on water like everyone wanted to believe he could.

I'm not into believing and overhyping someone either, but you have to give him credit for last year when he actually got to play. He still needs to develop a little better throwing and I know it will be harder this season, but he found ways to win last season and based on last year there's no reason to believe that he doesn't have the potential to be a top 3 qb in the NFL in the next 3-5 years.

Exactly. When you paint this picture of a guy being a god on the football field, it makes him seem really pathetic when he performs average. Thus, he can come to be perceived as a bust more easily. This is exactly what happened to Foster. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few months there are several threads in here bashing Vince.

He needs to get a lot better throwing. He'll also need to have a lot of luck on his side, like the Titans had against Jacksonville last year.

And I wouldn't be surprised in a few months if there's a few threads here praising vince for being the best ever.

I'm expecting Vince to have a worse year than what many thinks because he doesn't have Travis Henry to work with and Lendale cant seem to be able to stop eating and start losing wait and getting in shape and we don't excactly have a bunch of stars at the receiving group.
