Vince Young vs. Michael Vick

Somebody help me out here. Admittedly, living in Georgia I don't see a lot of Vince Young, but my perception is that he's a taller, weaker armed version of Vick who maybe stays in the pocket a little more.

Am I wrong?

I haven't seen too much of Young this year, but it seems to me that he may be a step slower than Vick, but he is a little more accurate and a lot more patient.

LOL. Saying he is anything like Vick to me is blasphemy.

First of all VY is a QB not a RB. He is looking to throw the ball first, not run run run. He is like a gazelle when he runs though. He seems to be in slow mo.

Vince, to me, is more accurate than Vick. He tends to throw high at times and has problems with short passes at times. But remember, he should be getting ready to dominate another NC game right now. He will only get better.

Another difference is leadership. Vince commands respect and has led the Titans since he got the starting job. I think his teammates would take a bullet for him. Where Vick seems to be all about me me me.

Norm Chow is up for the AZ job. If he leaves i think that will set Vince back a bit though. Chow has been a been reason for his success.

And saying he is weaker armed is way off. Vince is as strong or stronger than Vick.

If he's more accurate, why aren't his stats better? Again, just asking . . . I've barely seen him, but Vick has a better completion percentage.

I disagree there... Although the future appears to be brighter for Vince... Vick has a cannon.

Well, most of Young's low completion percentage comes from earlier in the year when he was just starting out. He has improved since then. Over the last 6 games his completion percentage was 59% while Vick's was 54%. Not a huge difference, but he was more accurate by the end of the year.

I disagree. Young's arm is fine, but Vick probably has one of the top 5 arms in the NFL. He can throw it through a wall . . . sometimes he just doesn't know which wall.

Yea, he has maybe the strongest arm in the league. What hurts him in regards to his receivers is that he never throws the ball the same way. Sometimes it's sidearm, sometimes it's 3/4's, and the receivers never know how it's coming out or how it will be spinning. It's not like they forgot how to catch from college to the NFL. Also, it's impossible to get in rhythm as a receiver when you have no idea if the QB is going to throw the ball or take off with it.

I know that had nothing to do with the original point, but oh well.

I've never heard or noticed the sidearm criticism before. Maybe there's something to that, but I'm telling you, Roddy White, Michael Jenkins and Ashley Lelie were just terrible this year. Algee Crumpler and Brian Finneran (when healthy) don't seem to have a problem catching the football.

I'm not disagreeing that they were terrible, but why were they terrible? Bad coaching? Concentration? Bad QB play? These are all factors. Even Crumpler had an unusual amount of drops this year. I just don't think they're as bad as everybody says they are, and some of it has to do with Vick. It seemed like they caught the ball pretty well Sunday when the backup was in there.
