Why aren't pads worn in the NFL Combine?

I was just thinking why aren't pads worn during the combine?

If I were trying to analyze talent for on the field play, I'd want to see who could do what in on the field gear.

I agree with your point, but when they've been evaluating guys for 20 years without pads, those 20 years of experience provide baselines for 40 times, etc. Obviously you'll know who the fastest cornerback is this year, but it will be hard to gauge him against past top 5 picks to judge if he's worthy of that.
