You'd probably think differently if hundreds, maybe thousands, of former players were lining up to sue you because you didn't have their "safety" in mind. These are preemptive measures to cover their butts in the future. Think it'll never happen in the college or high school games? Wait until insurance premiums increase dramatically as a result of further concussion studies and lawsuits.

This isn't about anyone trying to "wussify" football, it's about protecting the league from crazy lawsuits from men who fully realized that their health and safety were threatened by virtue of their profession. And guess what? If it changes in the NFL, it'll happen at the lower levels someday, too.

Hopefully what's next is adding length to those cheerleading outfits. They are so offensive!

I imagine they will start attaching flags to the hips of offensive players and invest heavily in energy shield (force field) technology to protect QBs.

We're probably a couple seasons from referees having to serve as human shields for Tom Brady.
