McNabb/Redskins Agree on Extension

5 years for $78 million with $40 million guaranteed. That's just crazy though, with the benching and the mess that followed I didn't think he would stay with them...

Maybe that's an indication that Shanahan won't be? I always thought he was a pretty good coach but he's absolutely butchered a couple of personnel decisions this year.

Thats a pretty suprising contract imo. No way he would have gotten that in Philly so it has worked out for him.

it was a bone headed moment in Shannys career. They are all "Over It and Moved On" Mcnabb is our QB for the next few years and I dont really have a problem with that. He is better than 75% of the QB situations in the NFL. Its not my money so I dont really care how much they spend.

The Redskins are trying to move to the top of the list of Most Dysfunctional NFL Teams. What a bizarre move. I tend to agree with the previous poster that asked whether this meant that Shanahan is on his way out of town. Shanahan has been an absolute trainwreck this year.

guys chill, everyone is jumping to conclusions:

Source: Donovan McNabb due just $3.75M if cut after '10 - ESPN

Quote:
So in essence, the Redskins paid McNabb $3.75 million in 2010 for the right to pay him $12.5 million in 2011 and control his rights. If the Redskins cut him after this season or trade him, they are only on the hook for the $3.75 million.

Boiled down, the deal's real guarantee is $3.5 million, though if McNabb suffered a catastrophic injury this season and never played again, he would receive $25 more million.

Here is how the rest of the full deal breaks down, according to an NFLPA source:

• 2010: $3.5 million signing bonus/$250,000 if active eight games

• 2011: $10 million option bonus/$2.5 million salary/$750,000 if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

• 2012: $12.75 million salary/$750,000 if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

• 2013: $13 million salary/$1.5 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

• 2014: $13.75 million salary/$3 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

• 2015: $13.55 million salary/$2.25 million if active 16 games/$250,000 workout/$2 million possible playoff incentives

I guess there's some reasonable explanations out there, namely to hug and make up with McNabb, why in the world would anyone wanna lock down a guy that old for that long?

Skins haven't tied themselves to anything and the onus is still on McNabb to earn the bigger dollars in out years. It's the way contracting should be done from the owners' perspective.

Donovan McNabb is the most overrated QB in the last 30 years.

Not too mention he gets so much love because he's "nice to the media"
