Dark Background Skin?

Has anyone looked into getting a dark background skin for the forum? A skin to make the background dark gray or black with light colored lettering?

I ask because I frequent the forums and the white background is tough on the eyes compared to what it could be. An example of what I'm sort of looking for can be found here.

vBulletin Skins

Check the link then click "Screenshots". That one is called "Bluefox" but we could get "Orangefox" or something similar.

It could just be an option in the list of skins that a member could choose from. If it's a possibility I wouldn't mind contributing to make it happen, seems to cost somewhere between $20 and $30 for something like that I think. Just interested in the thoughts of those who make the decision.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, put a picture in their avatar.

You just mean the white part of the background? Does the post text area hurt your eyes or does that shade take the sting off? While I personally don't mind the white, I've heard a couple of people mention the white being too bright.

Let me know.

Yes, I'm talking about the post text area. The shade does help some, but overall there's a great deal of bright white from the rest of the page. Maybe if there was an option to make the shaded area even darker and have light colored text in contrast. I was just referring to the potential for basically an inverted vbulletin skin with a dark gray or black background and white letters.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, I love these forums, but I come in so much that a darker look would not only look cool but be easier on the eyeballs.

Imagine this with orange accents rather than the gray. Just an example of a possible option.

Hallow Orange from www.transversestyles.com is a dark theme with orange accent.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the black/dark background with white letters. I think that's the exception on the internet rather than the rule.

After staring at pages with black backgrounds and white text, I get a headache when going to a normal site with black text. I still see splotches of black.

I will look at some options though.

Gotcha, it's not for everyone, but it could just be an option so if people enjoy the white background they can continue to use that as well.

Thanks for looking into it.
