Question/Suggestion

freak, have you ever thought about doing a reputation system to the board where posters can add reputation points to other posters for good post and such, or do you think it was just get out of hand?

I'm still toying with the idea. They usually tend to get out of hand. The only way I'm considering it is with a 'positive only' feeback system.

My first thought was how much of your time a system like this would eat up. Sounds very time consuming to me.

I really still don't understand the 'hiding' post thing that you PM'd me about. I've never seen anything like that. The modification mentioned above would allow us to give positive feedback to each other, much like a reputation system...but positive only.

I bet emain is talking about a rating system for individual posts that hide ones that have more negs than positives. I've never seen it on a message board but on a couple places where there are comments attached to articles (I know dailytech.com uses it). It does get abused quite often though.

I could be completely off base

I may just be delusional, but I am sure I have seen it on a board somewhere. You are right about the comments thing, it is definitely on dailykos and redreporter, but they are both blog sites.
