did you run your video through the receiver before or just the sound?

does your cable box/TV source have audio outs for surround sound?

When all else fails, check the manual for both the cable box and TV - they typically have set up diagrams.

More info is needed. Specifically about your A/V receiver. What sort of 5.1 inputs does it have?

if you have the advanced cable, you can plug an optical cable into the base to get 5.1 to your receiver.

I'm in the same boat here.I still haven't hooked up any surround sound to my new HDTV yet.I don't have a clue on how to hook mine up.
