These are the latest board rules that we have. The staff and I will look over them and try and post them in a place where everyone has access. Let us know if you have questions.

1. Personal Attacks/Family shots will not be tolerated on this board. If you don't like what someone has to say then don't read it or post why you think they are wrong. Posts where members start calling each other names will be deleted and the members risk losing their posting priveleges. This may be different from many other boards that you are used to.

2. Profanity. Let's keep it somewhat clean in here. We have women and some younger members and I think we can be creative enough in our adjectives while still keeping it clean. "F-Bombs" will absolutely not be tolerated.

3. Fans of other teams are always welcome here. However you should keep in mind that this is a Tennessee board and be respectful of that. Members who come in here just to take shots at our coach/team are only in here to start trouble and will be banned.

4. No Racism/Offensive content/Porn. Avatars and signatures should be in good taste. Women pics are allowed that could be printed in Maxim but those should go in the pic forum in most cases. If you are unsure if something is ok, then it's probably not.

5. No Spamming. This means you cannot come on here and start posting links you your site or your buddies site. Links to commercial sites are always acceptable, but spamming fan sites/boards is typically not allowed and never without prior approval. This is disrespectful and not allowed.

6. No copying/pasting of pay content from other sites. You may summarize anything you find in your own words.


A little ribbing is ok, but if your posts consist of nothing but taking shots at coaches, players, teams, other posters, etc., then this is not the place for you. And if you have a problem with content from another poster, then report it, because we don't catch everything. We believe in freedom of speech, but do it with some class.

Lastly, the Volboard is only for topics relating to UT. There are other forums for other topics. If you are unsure where to post a topic then it should go in the pub.

I'd like to add that as mods we can add to this at our discretion.

Just because it isn't in this list of rules doesn't mean that we can't choose to give you a warning about your behavior and/or ban you for it.

More and more a lot of posters are using "sanitized" versions of words that are unacceptable language in the board rules. I have discussed it with some of the other mods and the rule of thumb that hit home was if it makes you say the word to yourself then it is practically the same as typing the actual word.

I know that some of you will probably think this prudish, but the fact remains that we are trying to maintain a family atmosphere on the message board.

I thought I would give a general heads up before I started handing out infractions for this. Don't be surprised when this happens.

Look at it this way. If you learn to express yourself without using profanity it will be a skill that serves you well later in life.

I'm seeing more and more posts of people refusing to follow board rules where members are calling one another names. Remember, the volnation policy has always been argue your point but don't attack the poster. Calling someone an idiot or a moron is personal and there is no need for it.

Also, let's try to welcome and encourage new members. Some of them may not know how things operate around here and may post something stupid. I urge you to still try and be respectful to those people. I challenge that everyone one here who has been around for a while has posted something dumb at least once.

I don't like to ban people. I never have. It's counter productive for me actually. My only goal is to try and provide a place that people can have a civil discussion. I don't care if you are a Fulmerite or a Negavol or whatever. Your opinion makes no difference to me only how you present it.

Lastly, please don't be offended if you get a warning for something. It happens all the time. Like I mentioned above, we all lose our heads or post something stupid from time to time. However, if you continue to post and disregard board rules after several warnings you will risk having your account banned. If that happens, it's not as easy as just signing up for a new account. Most of the time, we know who you are.

In the end, all I am asking is just to have at least a little bit of respect for each other when you post.
