| Comp virus detection/help I opened an email that I think may have given me a virus. I have run AVG which found no threats and Malware that found 15 threats that I got rid of (looked like a toolbar or something).
But my computer is still running really slow, it kept failing when I was trying Windows update, and won't really work in safe mode (screen stays blank with safe mode written in the corners). Its also running pretty hot and the fan is a lot louder than normal. Any ideas? |

| So far it found a Trojan Horse which I deleted. Hopefully that's all there is but I'm still scanning to be sure... |

| Good luck. I couldn't be of any help on this one. Trojans are good about slowing things down. |

| I know Trojans are/were common, but still don't know much about them as I've never personally come across one.
The computer symptoms were slowness, freezing, etc so do you think that might be the only problem? |

| Get on a computer that isn't infected and google/download the following, then install and run on your computer in safe mode.
Malwarebytes. You already have it but you probably can't update it. You can get just the updated defs and copy to the correct folder.
Combo Fix. Run in safe mode. Gets rid of nasty stuff but can also kill off some things you need.
I am also guessing you have Vista. When you get into Windows, run msconfig. In the boot tab uncheck the box for safe mode.
