Everyone read if you plan to post -- suspensions coming for name calling

I've tried to ask nicely over and over for you to please watch the name calling and personal attacks, with no results. It's really only a small group that continue to disregard our rules -- but it's contagious. Especially for new members that don't know any better. They see someone calling another poster a name and decide to jump right in and join the fray. The disappointing part is those of you that have been around for a long time certainly know better.

I don't know what else to do apart from implementing new, more stringent rules. So, from this point forward personally attacking another poster will be grounds for a 3-day suspension from the site. The next time it happens the suspension will be a week. After that, offending posters may have their posting privileges permanently removed.

Now, keep in mind, myself and the moderators will serve as judge and jury on this. It doesn't matter who started it or who finished it. And it doesn't matter what other posters have been able to get away with in that past.

The best rule of thumb to keep yourself from crossing the line is to 'debate the post instead of attacking the poster'.

I ask that those of you who follow the rules to help us keep an eye on offending posters. If you see someone resorting to name-calling and personally attacking another member, please use the report post button to bring it to our attention. It's the triangular icon below each user's avatar.
