He looked like an old man at Ohio State. I remember when the first pick was down to him or Durant..How could you not look at him and see what kinda liability he was going to be. He got hurt before he even played his first game.

Durant on the other hand.....

^ If you're Portland, you have to take that chance.

Durant is a good scorer but talented big men like Oden are what wins championships.

The beginning to this season has me about ready to jump off a cliff. At least Roy willed us to a win over a decent team tonight.

I hear ya about the big man. But when they were looking at him, I dont see how they didnt notice that his walk is labored. It just seemed to me like they would have worried about his health a little bit.

And since I finallly have met a Trailblazer fan, I must ask you a question. What ever happened to Sebastian Telfair? I thought he was going to be the real deal. I know he has moved all over the place now, but when he was there, was he not playing well??I havent got a real chance to ever watch him play much basketball...

Sorry to hijack your thread XTennX

Hearing about Greg Oden run-ins from my friends at under-21 clubs around Portland say otherwise about the health of his knees... Oh well. I'm at a loss right now.

He's ultimately been a bust... He never really seemed to try that hard. Most people here still can't figure out exactly what happened, but my guess is that he just didn't want to be here. Here and Sacramento (and Oklahoma City now, I guess) are the smallest market teams in the league. Many of the players that come here come to love the city. I forget the stat on it, but I believe many of the guys who play here at some point choose to live here after their career is over, or at least keep a house in the area. Others simply don't like the small market teams. My guess is that he was probably one of those guys.

No way to ever tell somebody will turn out *that* good. In the 80's, if you want to win championships, you draft and build your team to beat Kareem.

Crap luck, yet again. Walton helped beat Kareem and the Lakers for us once in '77, and won the title accordingly. Since then, Kareem beat us with Bowie in the 80's, then Magic and co. in the 90's, then Shaq beat us in the late 90's/early 00's when we tried to counter with Sabonis.

Now, you have to try and stop Pau. When the Lakers have dominant big men, they win. So, if you want to win, you build to beat the Lakers. We had that last year, and had great success, just had the misfortune of running into the Rockets who matched up better with us than nearly any other team in the NBA.

*sigh* Hopefully Joel Przybilla can look as good as he did last year with more minutes.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was actually born in '65.

If it weren't for bad luck Oden wouldn't have any luck at all.
