Who knows what to think anymore. You now pretty much have to believe the fix was in for Game 6 of the 2002 Kings vs. Lakers series.

Either way, some pretty strong stuff coming from Donaghy's camp. We'll see what happens.

I was about to post this myself. I don't know if the guy's telling the truth or not, but hopefully something good comes from all of this.

Obviously he's got his own ass to save right now, but I don't think anybody thought he'd implicate the league office.

The situation in 2005 with Van Gundy is probably the best lead to follow up on. I was somewhat suspicious of it when it happened. If it turns out the league did tell the officials to start adjusting their calls, the NBA is super-screwed.

Yep, Stern is probably sweating bullets right now... that being said I hope it shines a light on all sports, and gets rid of any crooked officials. Everyone has watched at least one game in their life and thought something was up in every sport. I'd say the pro leagues are worse than collegiate, but who knows.

Donaghey's side has some good PR/ Lawyers in tow. I don't get into NBA much at all, but the timing is the key.

The Finals, Kobe, Garnet, two of the biggest media markets in America, ESPN/ ABC trying to hype it up with Magic/ Bird rivalry. It's the perfect time for him to come out with this stuff. Honestly, do you think he'd come out so hard with this all these things given if there wasn't any kind of truth to it? With all the Congress meetings and perjury vibes in Sports?

Like I said, I'm not an NBA guy at all, but too many things are adding up on the ref's side rather than the NBA's.

Off the bat and from an un-bias view things are adding up a little too well.

Interesting how all the talking heads (that I've seen) at ESPN/ABC flat out dismiss the idea that it could have been more than just Donaghy involved. They must be really pleased with that TV deal they got.

NBA ref sentenced to 15 months in gambling scandal

Quote:
Judge Carol Amon at the US District Court in Brookyln, New York, sentenced Tim Donaghy to 15 months in jail, with three years probation, only half the 27-33 months demanded by prosecutors.
reckon he'll be placed in solitary? there's got to be some inmates that lost money because of him.

Just a sign of the times. 40 years ago, if a referee that had been implicated in a gambling scandal turned around and rolled over on people in order to get a lighter sentence, not only would there have been a bounty put on him on the streets, but he would have plead for witness protection of some sort. Now this guy just gets a reduction in sentence and will probably walk away in 15 months with a book deal that will get more people ratted on.

What has happened to this country's underworld culture and their code of the streets?
