Avery Johnson out as Mavs coach.

I get that Cuban is disappointed in getting bounced in the 1st round for 2 years in a row, but I don't think the coach is the problem.

Dirk is a great player, but he appled up in the Finals against the Heat big time. Josh Howard must've started his summer weed habit early and J-Kidd has got 1 foot in the NBA grave and the other on a banana peel.

The Warriors were a matchup nightmare and the Hornets were just better.

So...what coach is out there waiting to be hired is gonna be better than Avery? I'm curious.

Amazing to see what CP3 does to teams.

Mike D'antoni as done nothing for me lately. His uptempo, non defensive, Euro offensive style is not working at all and I'm fed up with it. Steve Kerr looks like he is starting to get fed up with it also, which is why he is about to get the boot.

I don't know if the Mavs necessarily needed to be blown up... Dirk is definitley a useful player and great scorer. And Avery Johnson is a perfectly capable coach IMO. They should have retooled for a better defensive presence, something they never truly worked on getting. Cuban may know basketball well for an owner, but I don't think he's done that well putting teams together.

I think when they traded for Kidd they were going for it all this season. If not this season then the rebuilding process would begin next season. They took a gamble and failed. They always have Devean George to build a franchise around.

They weren't ever that far from winning it all. Especially in '06. They went up two games, then Dwayne Wade played out of his mind and got a lot of calls. Point being Dallas had the talent to win it all.

The Kidd trade was definitely ill-advised IMO, but they could have kept a number of players, and made trades for defensive presence instead. Sort of like how the Lakers are utilizing Gasol for offense, but bringing in defensive talent.

The trade was bad, but up until then they really hadn't regressed. The emergence of Chris Paul, the rise of Houston, the trade for Gasol, a lot of teams in the West have gotten A LOT better. I hate to see Avery get bounced out because just think, just around a year ago at this time they were the team to beat going into the playoffs. My how things have changed

Cuban has to be blamed for this team. Trading away Harris was retarded.
