Past or present, who is/was the coach you admire(d) most?

Personally, I've got to go with Don Nelson. Not only is he the innovator of the point forward position, but there isn't a more attractive brand of basketball than Nellie Ball.

I'm a Red fan, but to be honest, he won a ton of championships with an enormous talent differential and when he really only had to beat 1 or 2 other teams. He did a lot for basketball, but of the legendary types, I'll take Wooden.

Pete doesn't live up to the icon status that the other two have.

Pure basketball, I take Newell over just about everyone. Leadership, comraderie, motivation etc there are many others in the debate.

Now that was a goofy looking guy, I remember listening to Chick Hearns and Stu Lantz on the "Lake Show" pick on him constantly....He was a player coach at one time wasn't he?
