I teared up when Magic was talking to the little girl who's HIV positive.

It's an excellent documentary. I highly recommend watching it.

Same here. It was basically what you expected, but still amazing to see.

The only minor thing I didn't like about it was how Magic himself narrated it.

The reactions people like Karl Malone were talking about were very honest. I was in college at the time and it was pretty much a given that most people thought he'd be dead within a few years.

I think that is part of what made it great. Here's a guy diagnosed with HIV and 20 years later he's alive, healthy and narrating his own documentary.

I see what you mean I'm just saying I didn't like how he did it. At some points it was like he was voice-acting, doing voice-overs for a cartoon in a non-narration fashion.

If you were old enough to remember his "Magic Hour" talk show, the stilted commentary and bad acting wouldn't have shocked you so much.

Was in high school biology class when it was announced. Our teacher, who was also the girls bball coach, bursted out into tears......he was a big fan. It was like a major political figure got shot or something.

I wasn't alive at the time so it's amazing to me to see how far we've come in AIDS research and just the general public knowing the facts about the disease.

Magic played a big role in that.

Also, I wonder how many prominent athletes were diagnosed with AIDS at that time but decided not to say anything? I can certainly understand why they wouldn't want to come out, which makes what Magic did all the more remarkable.
