| | smh | He said as long as it's one of those teams... Doesn't the organization have the last say here? They are going with the best players they can get back.
Portland can offer more talent in return than any of these teams.
I'm just trying to keep hopes up since it only happens about once a decade where a big time free agent or trade prospect is actually interested in coming here. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

| Okafor is the only thing making the Magic hesitate on going after Chris Paul.
Both Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith sound disinterested and dismissed the talk as "rumors". Though it could be small talk.
From everything being said, the Magic are trying to stay away from Okafor.

| | smh | That may kill the deal for them... And anybody else looking at Paul.
Basically, this deal comes down to the Hornets ownership, and whether or not they sell the team. The Warriors sale price that just happened may or may not bode well for New Orleans, but if they can't sell, then it's cost cutting time to get under the luxury tax, which means get rid of Okafor and Paul at all costs.
Paul likes Orlando right now, but all the people in his ear are telling him 1) stay in the western conference and 2) go to a big market. This coming from LRMR.
Still, as I said, the Hornets ownership have the final say in this, and they can either tell Paul to show up to camp or where he will be playing next season.
The reason I like my teams chances the best is this: we have expiring contracts to offer in Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla and Greg Oden, we can offer viable talent, have the space to make it work, and most importantly, may be the only team in the whole NBA capable of taking on Okafor's contract if we move enough players. And we have the players to move. It might be a bad one, but Okafor, Camby and either Przybilla or Oden at center is a solid lineup. Paul coming here makes the Blazers an instant title contender, and he knows it.
Okafor will be the key to whether or not Chris Paul can leave New Orleans. |

In my mind, I can't see Portland parting with Oden to get Okafor (on that side of a potential trade). Also, does New Orleans take back Andre Miller for Paul (on that side of a potential trade)?
Just my two cents. |

| The more I read, the more I think Chris Paul doesn't come to Orlando. Perhaps I should stop reading and let it all play out. Quote:
Chris Paul has yet to formally request that the Hornets trade him, but will do so during a scheduled meeting on Monday, according to a source.
The meeting will include new general manager Dell Demps and new coach Monty Williams.
New Orleans president Hugh Weber has maintained throughout the ordeal that the team has no plans to trade Paul.
However, Paul's agent, Leon Rose, continues to gauge interest from teams regarding his client.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Paul's camp claims that no leading destinations have been established.

"Much ado about nothing,'' said Van Gundy. "We are only involved in this story because someone said he wants to be traded and someone said he wants to come to Orlando." New Orleans' likely insistence that a team take Emeka Okafor's $52 million contract seems to be stifling any talks for the moment. Jul. 25 - 10:13 pm et

| | smh | Jason Quick says the Paul deal currently does not have wheels with anybody, but if it did, the Hornets organization apparently views a trade with Portland as the most likely.
This can continue to change with the potential sale of the Hornets franchise. |
