If Mears does not return to Hendrick......

I have heard Casey Mears name come up for the RCR ride and there have been rumors that he may not be back at Hendrick next season. Personally, I like the guy so I would be happy if they extended his contract and it's hard to be fourth fiddle on a four car team so who would be good for that ride? I hope this doesn't look like a thread aimed at Tony Stewart now that he is unhappy at Gibbs allegedly. That thread did get me thinking about this situation since I am a Hendrick fan though. I couldn't see Tony taking a back seat to anyone else on his team (problem with Kyle Busch now) and second if he did keep the Home Depot sponsor it wouldn't be welcome at the Lowes backed Hendrick team. I would however love to have Biffle if Mears is not retained. Would the Bif ever leave the cat in the hat and would he mind being fourth in line on the popularity chain at Hendrick? I think Greg Biffle is one of the best race car drivers on the track, he is second to none with a loose race car. I'm no Roush fan but I am a Biffle fan, he's a good guy.

I didn't think Biffle would return to Roush at the beginning of the season. But listening to talk about it they must be close to a deal

Biffle came close to leaving Rouch the last time his contract was up, so it is not like he wouldn't consider it. But my best instinct says he will stay. I too think Biffle is one of the best car control guys out there.

I think the Biff has stated his intention to stay at Roush Fenway. Biff is one of my favs,along with Matt Kenseth. Greg and Matt are buddies and I think Greg's happy at Roush Fenway. Tony at Hendrick? I don't think so. Some people believe that if Casey Mears is released from Hendrick,he might return to open-wheel racing,being the son of a racer and nephew of a four-time Indy 500 winner. I'm a Bobby Labonte fan. I hope he gets the fourth ride at Childress. Bobby has been mentioned as a possibility. I respect and admire the Pettys but let's face it,their equipment is subpar and they cannot keep up with the megateams and could well bite the dust like Morgan-McClure has and the Wood Brothers are close to doing.JMO.

Totally agree VFinNC. I would love to see Bobby in the 4th RCR car next year. General Mills already announced they are switching to RCR, next step is Bobby going.

He has been offered a lifetime contract at PE, but has not signed it. I respect PE, but I want Bobby to be in a competitive ride.

He drives part time with the nationwide car, switch for cup would be awesome.

It would be awesome seeing Bobby as teammates with Burton,Harvick,and Bowyer.They would make RCR even more of a force to be reckoned with.

Burton is my #2 driver, it would be awesome to have Bobby and Burton teamed up. He has a good friendship with Harvick too since he drove his Busch car last year.

I sure hope he switches, but I doubt we would find out till end of year.

Dave Moody said on his show on Sirius radio at the start of the season that Bobby would probably quietly negotiate a deal with Richard Childress and that it would be made public sometime in the fall. I hope it's true.

VolfinNC, that is very interesting information. I wouldn't expect a big hoopla showing. That is great news if it happens. I will be looking forward to finding out.

You're right D4, he could be competitive. I like PE, but they are a long way from where they need to.
