I met Geoff Bodine tonight

didn't really get a chance to talk to him as he was eating dinner at Applebee's and i hate bothering celebrities (if you could call him that), but i did get to shake his hand, see his 86 Daytona 500 ring and wish him well. and the girl got his autograph. he said he was in Knoxville for a business meeting.

Interesting. I would've probably had to have said something about his wild ride at Daytona in that truck.

If I said anything at all that is. More than likely I wouldn't have bothered him at all and just went along.

well, i normally wouldn't have said anything either, but his buddy with him told the server who he was, so i just went up said hey, got the autograph and left hime alone.

i wasn't going to ask him if he felt lucky to be alive after his Daytona wreck.

It's neat when you get to meet celebrities. I was in Tampa and driving by the stadium and stopped by when they were doing spring training for the Reds and got two autographs-Pee Wee Reese (of all people) and George Foster. Still have these autographs.

OTJ in Los Angeles, night watch, West Los Angeles. We were stopped at a signal about 0230 hrs. He pulled up alongside of us, waved and asked us the way to LAX.

He was driving a silver-blue Rolls with a blond that was a lot younger than him. My partner was pretty impressed with the babe he was with.

We talked to him through a couple of signal phases and then he said "see ya baby", laughed and drove away. He looked pretty much like he did on tv.
