Hollywood Originality Strikes Again

Avatar sparks 3-D makeover for action classics

Instead of producing new good movies or even new average movies, Hollywood is looking to take the easy way out and re-release classics in 3D. While some movies would benefit with a 3D makeover, I'm sure Hollywood will go overboard and ruin the whole 3D experience.

Totally off topic, but Madison Avenue seems to be as unoriginal as Hollywood. They're remaking the classic Jordan/Bird McDonald's shooting contest commercial with LeBron, Dwight Howard, and Bird. New ideas seem to be a thing of the past sometimes.

Hollywood has never really been that original. We just don't realize it because eventually everyone forgets all of the crappy remakes and the cream rises to the top. When The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart was made in 1941, it was the third time that story had been filmed in 11 years. No one remembers the other two versions because most people who would remember that are dead and the other 2 versions didn't end up being film classics.

Interesting point... how many times was the Ten Commandments or Ben Hur made?
