I've been watching Cheyenne on Encore every morning before work. I guess that's what got me in the mood for some good westerns. |

| There are so many great westerns out there that this thread could easily become thousands of posts in length. You've got your traditional good vs. evil type westerns where the characters are not very complex and the guy in the white hat always wins, the character study anti-hero stuff, the action comedies and the epics. There are probably more genres of western film but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I don't think I could say what my favorite western is. How do you compare High Noon to The Wild Bunch? How can anyone say that The Magnificent Seven is better or worse than The Searchers?
For purposes of answering the op's question, one western yet to be named that I'd reccomend is Vera Cruz. |

Some great ones have been mentioned so far. If the OP would be interested in something with a little more modern feel to it, I would also recommend Bad Day at Black Rock w/ Spencer Tracy, Lee Marvin, & Robert Ryan.
