| Ryan Adams @ War Memorial in Nashville I saw RA and the Cardinals play two shows this weekend. Both were great, the second may have been the best show I have ever seen in my life. This is possibly his last tour as he is going on hiatus for health reasons and he played two absolutely smoking 2+ hour sets (last night I think it clocked in at about 2 hours 45 minutes). If you are going to do farewell shows, that is how you should do them.
If any of you are fans of his and couldn't make any of the shows on this tour I will try to seed the torrents of the recordings once they get out, just let me know. |

| I caught the War Memorial show and agree: marvelous performance. One of the great songwriters of our time.

| Terrible that a great musician suffers from Meniere's disease, an inner ear condition that causes ringing, loss of balance, and pain. It's very sad when a person is unable to continue his calling due to health reasons. I hope he, at least, is able to continue as a writer.

| So is he going to retire for good? I had no idea about this. I would have made more of an effort to catch him on this tour if I'd known it's his last.
This seems to indicate he isn't retiring, only scaling back. http://consequenceofsound.net/2009/0...ng-from-music/

| His show here in Atlanta later this month was originally billed as "his last show ever!!!!111", but apparently he's backed off that now.
I decided not to deal with it this time. It was one thing for him to show up wasted and halfass a show when he was playing smaller venues for $12 a ticket, but it really is inexcusable now that he's filling larger arenas for $45 a ticket. I don't think that I'm giving him any more of my concert-ticket dollar until that I hear that he's grown up. |

I can definitely say that he didn't half-ass the two shows I saw. He also seemed much more personable than at past shows and really played off the audience.
