Different Music

I'm always looking for new music of all I kinds. We've got our country music and old rock thread, things everyone enjoys to a certain degree. So share some bands with a description of what they are. Youtube and myspace links would be great. Try to pick artists that you haven't seen mentioned.

YouTube - Gogol Bordello: Wonderlust King Self labeled as Gypsy Punk

YouTube - Finntroll - Ursvamp Finnish Folk Metal

YouTube - The Avett Brothers - I Would Be Sad Great Folk Band

YouTube - Cutthroat Shamrock - 7 Days Local Folk/Bluegrass/Punk from Gatlinburg

YouTube - Lamb of God - Redneck @ Download '07 AMAZING QUALITY!! Best Southern Deathmetal/Hardcore Band out there, NWS for language

How about some Guy Clark. He doesn't get much pub in these parts.

He can be just like a coat from the cold.

In the same vein, but a little newer, Hayles Carrl.

Someone mentioned bluegrass earlier, Split Lip Rayfield.

Blues/Rock, Catfish Haven.

And since this is a UT forum they may not be considered "differen music" since they're from Memphis but, Lucero.

I'll check it out. I would do some Adam Carroll, but he doesn't have any good You Tube material that I can find.

are there any particular genres you are looking for? you have certainly opened up a very large umbrella question.

Think you'd like it if you like Guy Clark and Adam Carroll. I forgot the whole youtube part of this thread so here's one from Hayes.

YouTube - Hayes Carll - It's a Shame (live)

Didn't seem to be one for a song called Knockin' Over Whiskeys but I could only google since youtube is blocked here at work but that's a song I can listen to enough right now.

Edit: Just to keep from posting over and over again I thought I'd throw it in here.

YouTube - Justin Townes Earle - South Georgia Sugar Babe

Steve Earle's son, another guy I can't stop listening to right now.

Yeah, I was actually trying to plan a trip back to Knoxville to coincide with their show at Taproom but it looks like I'm going to have to go see them in Baltimore instead.

Good stuff Noch Noch.

Here is Billy Joe with Eddy. Eddy was completely underappreciated.

Thanks Lex, glad you liked it, highly recommend looking into them more if you liked those two.

Completely agree about Eddy. I've got a version of "Live Forever" that was recorded at a show on Father's Day with Billy Joe, Robert Earl Keen and Todd Snider where BJS tells the story of how he and Eddy wrote that song together. Its sad but it makes for a great rendition of the song.
