pffft, any list like that that doesn't include "Sultans of Swing" isn't to be taken seriously.

Did you know that the intro to "Blackened" is actually being played backwards.

Jason Newsted wrote the original riff and they decided to play it backwards.

I'd heard that a long time ago but forgot it. That piece of music is just on a whole other level for them.

Strictly speaking riffs, not songs:

The Kinks – ‘You Really Got Me’.
Lenny Kravitz - "Are You Gonna Go My Way"
Nirvana - "Smell Like Teen Spirit" (aka the riff that killed 80's rock)
Rage Against The Machine - "Killin' in the Name Of" (Tom Marello is sick)
White Stripes - Seven Nations Army
Smashing Pumpkins - "Today"
Ozzy Osborne - Crazy Train (Wilde man Zack)

I'm big into older (90's) Scandinavian metal so I am a little biased on where I choose my riffs..although most listed above are very good.

In Flames - Every single song from their Subterranean EP. Actually most In Flames records from Subterranean to Clayman are chocked full of songs with great rif***e.

At The Gates - Slaughter Of the Soul and The Head of the Hydra

Edge of Sanity - Blood Colored (also albums Spectral Sorrows/Purgatory Afterglow/Crimson) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3emFczewdvI

Opeth - The Night and the Silent Water (first two albums have a bunch of good riffs)

Subterranean is by far the best In Flames album. Stand Ablaze is such a powerful song.
I used to be a huge Opeth fan, but they've changed so much in the past few years that I always forget them now. I caught a show with them and Enslaved a few years back in Knoxville and they were amazing live.
