Here is what is NOT on the CBS fall schedule: comedies 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly and The Odd Couple, drama Person of Interest and reality series Undercover Boss. The network clearly has a backup plan should Supergirl not work on Monday with so many comedies on the bench. On the drama side, CBS also has new series Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Rush Hour on tap for later on.

Life In Pieces landed what is considered the best comedy slot in television, airing behind The Big Bang Theory both on Monday and then on Thursday when Big Bang relocates to its regular home post-football.

Following some test runs this spring, Mom is taking over the Thursday 9 PM tentpole position. It will be used to launch a new comedy with two female leads, the Jane Lynch-Maggie Lawson starrer Angel From Hell.

Person Of Interestwas left on the bench. That, combined with the reduced 13-episode order, mirrors what CBS did last season with The Mentalist, another indication this may be the final season of the Jonathan Nolan thriller. CBS’ Nina Tassler today stopped short of declaring this the final season but confirmed that was a possibility. Taking over POI‘s Tuesday 10 PM slot is new action drama Limitless, based on the Bradley Cooper movie. He executive produces and is reprising his role from the movie in a recurring capacity.

CSI: Cyber is moving from the Wednesday 10 PM slot to Sunday 10 PM, the most recent time period for mothership CSI. It will be succeeded on Wednesday by new medical drama Code Black.

As for the Supergirl-Gotham clash, CBS’ brass said that Supergirl is broader and more relatable, featuring romance, so it doesn’t compete for the same audience as Gotham. “I think it’s wrong to think that if there’s another genre show in that time slot, that we can’t succeed,” head of scheduling Kelly Kahl said.:shakehead:

CW
(New programs in UPPER CASE/BOLD)

MONDAY
8 PM – CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND

9 PM – Jane The Virgin

TUESDAY
8 PM – The Flash
9 PM – iZombie

WEDNESDAY
8 PM – Arrow
9 PM – Supernatural

THURSDAY
8 PM – Vampire Diaries
9 PM – The Originals

FRIDAY
8 PM – Reign
9 PM – America’s Next Top Model

CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND – Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) is a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything – her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan – in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness in that exotic hotbed of romance and adventure: suburban West Covina, Calif. (it’s only two hours from the beach! Four in traffic). From CBS Television Studios, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend stars Rachel Bloom (“Robot Chicken”), who also serves as executive producer along with Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”); and Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” films).

CONTAINMENT — When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan, who has quickly risen through the ranks of the Atlanta PD. But Lex’s job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana, and his best friend and fellow officer Jake, are trapped within the cordoned area. Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank, an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, including her young son; and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts, the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus. On the outside, Dr. Sabine Lommers is leading the government efforts to contain the outbreak, and has asked for Lex’s help in enforcing the cordon – which grows increasingly difficult as the public trust deteriorates. And the public has reason to be wary, as journalist Leo begins unraveling a conspiracy, finding that something doesn’t add up in the official story being told. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them. But as they begin to gain each other’s trust, hope remains, and on either side of the cordon unlikely heroes will rise. Containment stars David Gyasi (“Interstellar”); Christina Moses (“Starship: Apocalypse,” “Starship: Rising”); Chris Wood (“The Vampire Diaries”); Kristen Gutoskie (“Beaver Falls”); Claudia Black (“The Originals,” “Farscape”); George Young (“Casualty”); Hanna Mangan Lawrence (“Spartacus: War of the Damned”); and Trevor St. John (“One Life to Live”). Based on the original Belgian series created by Carl Joos for Eyeworks, Containment is produced by My So-Called Company in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Originals”) and David Nutter (“The Flash,” “Arrow”).

DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW — When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S Legends Of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S Legends Of Tomorrow is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).

Original Post Updated with the ABC fall schedule!

ABC is launching five new series in the fall, comedies The Muppets and Dr. Ken, and dramas Quantico, Oil (formerly Boom) and Of Kings and Prophets. As usual, the network is holding back some of its highest-profile new entries, including new thriller dramas The Family and the Shondaland-produced The Catch. With sophomore How To Get Away with Murder slated for a shorter season per star Viola Davis’ contract, it is likely that The Catch would slip into the Thursday 10 PM slot later in the season to keep the Shondaland branding of the night intact. I will update with more information on that later this morning.

Despite being described as an adult take on the famous puppets, The Muppets is said to be family friendly, so no surprise that ABC is using the self-starter as a new Tuesday 8 PM anchor. Family comedy Fresh Off the Boat, which did a very respectable business with no lead-in in the challenging time period this past midseason. Fresh off the Boat will now slide to 8:30 PM.

The scheduling of the other new ABC comedy, Dr. Ken, also was a no-brainer. The network’s only newly picked multi-camera comedy series is paired with ABC’s only returning multi-camera series, Last Man Standing on Friday.

On Tuesday, ABC is subbing one procedural, cancelled Forever, with another, Quantico. The network is going for big-canvas, sprawling dramas on Sunday, with the soapy Oil and biblical tale Of Kings and Prophets filling the spots held last fall by recently departed Resurrection and Revenge.

Also held for midseason are new series The Real O’Neals, Uncle Buck and Wicked City, as well as returning dramas American Crime, Marvel’s Agent Carter and Secrets and Lies and comedy Galavant.

2015-16 SERIES DESCRIPTIONS

NEW COMEDIES

DR. KEN – Doctor-turned-actor/comedian Ken Jeong (“Community,” “The Hangover”), plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. Luckily, his therapist wife, Allison, is just the right partner to keep things sane. “Dr. Ken” stars Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell-Martin as Damona, Dave Foley as Pat, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave and Krista Marie Yu as Molly. “Dr. Ken was written by Jared Stern, Ken Jeong, and Mike O’Connell. Instead of ruining their family, the honesty triggers a new, messier chapter where everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real. “The Real O’Neals” stars Martha Plimpton as Eileen, Jay R. His unconventional personality may just make him the right fit for the family and they may be the answer to his problems, too. “Uncle Buck” stars Mike Epps as Buck, Nia Long as Alexis, James Lesure as Will, Iman Benson as Tia, Sayeed Shahidi as Miles and Aalyrah Caldwell as Maizy. “Uncle Buck” was written by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. NEW FALL COMEDIES:

Cautioned by Amy not tell anyone about her, Allison can’t discuss this over-the-top oddball with her father and business partner, Marv (Kevin Pollak), a sunburned dermatologist who shares an office with Allison, or her younger brother, Brad (Kyle Bornheimer), a pharmaceutical sales rep who lives over her garage. As Allison tries to push Amy away, Amy makes her final pitch: her sole mission is to provide Allison with helpful guidance that nudges her in the right direction in life – and it’s her final chance to prove herself as an angel. With that, Allison agrees to this unlikely relationship because maybe a weird friend is exactly what she needs… and what if Amy really is her “guardian angel”? As the family’s lives unfold in four short stories each week, they try to savor these little pieces of time that flash by but stay with you forever, because these moments add up to what life’s all about. NEW FALL DRAMAS

PilotCODE BLACK — based on the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. At the heart of the ER’s controlled chaos is Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden), renowned for successfully performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Melanie Kannokada), Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Also working in the ER is Dr. Neal Hudson (Raza Jaffrey), an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Leanne’s “cowboy” approach, and Dr. Rollie Guthrie (William Allen Young), the energetic, longest-serving attending. In Center Stage, life is measured in seconds, and these heroic doctors and nurses operate with speed and skill within an overwhelmed system to treat the crowds of people who are often there for one of two reasons: to die or to receive a life-saving miracle. Michael Seitzman, Marti Noxon, Linda Goldstein-Knowlton, Ryan McGarry and David Semel are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios. The pilot was directed by David Semel (“Madam Secretary”).

LIMITLESS — based on the feature film,Limitless 4 is a fast-paced drama about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Working closely with Brian in the major case squad in New York City is Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a formidable investigator with a dark past, and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a canny manipulator of the reins of power. Unbeknownst to the FBI, Brian also has a clandestine relationship with Senator Edward Mora (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, recurring), a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé. Fueled now with a steady supply of NZT that enables him to use 100% of his brain capacity, Brian is more effective than all of the FBI agents combined, making him a criminal’s worst nightmare and the greatest asset the Bureau has ever possessed. Craig Sweeny, Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Bradley Cooper, Todd Phillips, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Tom Forman are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with K/O Paper Products and Relativity Television. The pilot was directed by Marc Webb (“The Amazing Spider-Man” 1 and 2 Feature Films).

SupergirlSUPERGIRL — is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter (“Arrow”).

NEW SERIES FOR LATER THIS SEASON:

CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS (Spinoff) — stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise in a drama about the specialized International Division of the FBI tasked with solving crimes and coming to the rescue of Americans who find themselves in danger while abroad. Heading the department is Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Sinise), a seasoned 20-year veteran of the Bureau. The team he trusts with his life includes Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney), a former military hero with split-second profiling skills he honed on the battlefield, and Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams), the unit’s compassionate, brilliant tech analyst who additionally liaises stateside with the families of those in trouble while his group is far from home. These exceptional agents are dedicated to safely returning U.S. residents home by profiling and identifying criminals who are beyond our borders. The pilot was a planted spin-off of an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS broadcast on April 8, 2015. Emmy Award winner Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Nick Pepper are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios and The Mark Gordon Company. Detective Lee (Jon Foo) is a reserved, honorable master martial artist with lightning-fast moves who comes to L.A. to avenge his sister’s alleged death and learn more about her connection to a Chinese organized crime ring. Detective Carter (Justin Hires), on the other hand, is a wisecracking cop who plays by his own rules and has never wanted a partner. As exasperated as Carter’s boss, Captain Cole (Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Wendie Malick), gets with him, she knows he’s a brilliant detective who gets results. Attempting to help the two get along is Sergeant Didi Diaz (Aimee Garcia), Carter’s friend and former partner who doesn’t hesitate to call him out on his antics. But even as cultures clash and tempers flare, Carter and Lee can’t deny they make a formidable team, and grudgingly admit that sometimes an unlikely pairing makes for a great partnership. Bill Lawrence, Blake McCormick, Jeff Ingold, Jon Turteltaub and the team behind the “Rush Hour” movies, Arthur Sarkissian and Brett Ratner, are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Jon Turteltaub.

So basically they are just turning it into CSI?

Peter MacNicol To Depart ‘CSI: Cyber’

When CSI: Cyber returns for a second season next fall with Ted Danson as a new regular opposite Patricia Arquette, it will be without one of the series’ original regulars, Peter MacNicol. I hear he will not be coming back as part of tweaks the spinoff is undergoing heading into Season 2.

MacNicol played Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, a career FBI insider and supervisor of Special Agent Avery Ryan (Arquette) for the Cyber Crime Division in Washington, D.C. Ryan, who didn’t need a boss, will not have one going forward. Danson will play his character from CSI, D.B. Russell, who crossed paths with Ryan in the Cyber planted spinoff episode of CSI last season. Despite Danson’s high-profile casting, sources close to the CSI: Cyber say the reasons for MacNicol’s departure were strictly creative.

Thanks for the updates. Will miss seeiing "Person of Interest."

POI isn't cancelled it will be back in the mid-season but it will probably be its last at least on CBS.

POI is the last show that CBS has that isn't fully under CBS control its a Warner Bros. show so WB will be getting the syndication money.

Original post updated with The CW!

A Few Notes!

The lone new series on the CW schedule is hourlong comedy Crazy Ex-Girfriend, a last-minute pickup of a project originally developed and piloted as a racy half-hour comedy for Showtime. It will be a quiet fall for the CW whose biggest new attraction, DC superhero team-up series Legends Of Tomorrow, will not be ready until midseason. Also held for midseason is the only CW pilot this season to get a series order, Julie Plec’s Containment (formerly Cordon), as well as returning dramas The 100 and Beauty And The Beast.
